Dazzled by High Beams? Here’s What to Do
You’re cruising along a dark road when—bam!—an oncoming car blinds you with their high beams. Suddenly, your vision is impaired, and it’s hard to stay focused on the road.
So what should you do to stay safe?
✔ Look to the left side of the road – Focus on the left-side road line or edge to avoid being blinded while keeping your lane position.
✔ Keep left in your lane – Maintain a steady path, staying as far left as safely possible.
✔ Slow down – Reduce your speed to give yourself more time to react. If your vision is severely affected, safely pull over until your eyes adjust.
✔ Use your own high beams responsibly – Only use them when you’re more than 200 metres from an oncoming vehicle or another car ahead. Never use lights that could dazzle or distract other drivers.
At Boost Driver Training, we teach learners how to handle real-world scenarios like this with calm and confidence. Because safe driving isn’t just about passing a test—it’s about being prepared for the unexpected.
Stay alert, drive safe, and keep your eyes on the road—without the glare!
